Pros A couple of interesting characters provide comic relief.
Cons Blindingly obvious who the kidnapper is.
Recommended it? Yes

Ed McBain is most popular for his consistently strong 87th Precinct series set in the fictional city of Isola and featuring a mixture of cops, both dedicated and not so dedicated, working the beat on the perpetually mean streets.
