Age of Empires II: Age of Kings is a historically accurate representation of medieval warfare. This game will never get old, even after you have completed the campaigns because it comes with an easy to use campaign editor, which allows you to create, test, and play your very own scenarios. Those are the very reasons I liked this game from the get-go.
I have had it for over a year, and still am frequently playing it. This game is a game of strategy and you have full control over your civilization. It incorporates battle-like scenarios with 3-d gameplay for an amazing combination that will blow you out of the water.
If you like the game Command and Conquer, or any of its sequels, you will love this game just because it is so amazingly superior technology-wise. The main plus for this game is the fact that you can play against others over the Internet, and challenge your friends and family to competitions!
Gameplay
A 3d environment where you can explore the great deserts of Africa to the swampy marshes of the Americas. You command your villagers to gather resources with which you build up your army and civilization to conquer your opposition. You advance through the ages in order to build and support a better army. There are also multiple civilizations to choose from, from the barbaric hordes of the Mongols to the sophisticated Byzantines of the Holy Roman Empire.
Sound
The sound is great in this game, each different environment provides a sound that matches the environment, such as forests having birds chirp, and hearing the splashing of waves when you are out at sea. Also, each civilization has their own accents and speak when they are commanded. Not only are there just the sounds on this game, but you too can record your voice and put it in the game when creating your own scenario!
Scenario Editor
There is also, on this fabulous game, a scenario editor that allows you to create your own maps by placing units and buildings. Not only do you have those options, but you can also place rocks, sea rocks, shipwrecks, ruins of destroyed buildings, and much much much more! And when you thought that was all you can do... your wrong. You can also edit terrain, placing water, trees, different terrain such as: dirt, sand, grass, roads, and you can even change the elevation so you can make your fortress well protected in a mountain, or in a canyon. There is also a very powerful trigger system that allows you to make professional scenarios just like Microsoft and Ensemble Studios. So with an extensive imagination... you can make your own world on the Age of Empires II: Scenario Designer!!!
