The Bottom Line:
If you havent bought it, you need to. It is a superb game. However, be warned that it is addictive.
Initially, when prowling through the isles of my local Best Buy, I saw Age of Empires II and thought that it was just another game attempting to capture the success of Civilization. As I waited to hear how the game was, I began to read rave reviews on it. These reviews caused me to buy it and that is where the never-ending game began.
If you remember the Civilization II from a few years back, you can think of Age of Empires as an enhancement of Civilization II. It utilizes the same basic strategy, while creating a stronger addiction.
The controls are very easy to learn. They are pretty much as follows: the left mouse button and the "Enter" key.
Civilization choice is very good in this game, and provides most of the same civilizations as Civilization and Civilization II.
Graphics, on the other hand, are much better. Color is better, as well as the slight 3D appearance of the images.
I have only one complaint and it is that the game is addictive. So addictive, in fact, that I found myself waking up in the middle of the night to go finish a battle.
In conclusion, if you havent bought it, you need to. It is a superb game. However, be warned that it is addictive.
