When the original Age of Empires came out, most people loved it! It was great! Now, a new game, Age of Empires II, the Age of Kings, has tried to surpass its predecessor. Not only has it achieved this goal, but it has also gone much farther!
In Age of Empires II, you start building your civilization in the dark age, the time following the fall of the Roman Empire. You then advance through the Feudal, Castle, and Imperial ages as you try to come out as the world leader.
You have the choice of playing as 13 entirely different civilizations, including the Mongols, Franks, Teutons, and many more! Each has its own special unit and wonder, as well as different attributes which makes it better or worse in various situations. Along with the new very unique civilizations comes a whole new set of buildings, including castles, blacksmiths, and mills. Many new units and technologies are introduced as well, such as chemistry. The game also has improved graphics and better options for multiplayer. Along with the random map feature come five different campaigns, each with their own style and flavor.
Age of Empires II is easy to learn for starters, but for masters of the original there is still much to learn in this new game. Personally, I don't see any problems with this A. O. E. II at all! It is great fun to play multiplayer and single player as well. I recommend Age of Empires II to everyone!
