The Bottom Line:
good stuff. Worth a try if you are looking for a new way to make coffee.
I was originally given this “coffee maker” by a then-girlfriend of mine who had discovered it at a coffee shop that she really liked. For a while, I didn't really like it because I thought it was going to be quite hard to use. Once I got the hang of it, it was actually really easy. Plus, the filters are really small, so there is less of an impact on the environment.
Basically what you do when you use this machine, is compress a small amount of boiling hot water through finely ground coffee beans, pushing coffee out through the filter at the bottom. So as a result, it makes either espresso, or if you were me, really strong coffee. Usually, I end up having to add a little bit of hot water to the coffee to make it palatable. Either way, it is much, much, better than the coffee that you can make in most coffee makers. You really taste the flavor. For example, I particularly like ravens brew coffee. But when I make it in my regular coffee maker, it ends up tasting slightly bitter, or watered down. Not so when I use this thing.
If you use it regularly, this little device will last anywhere from 9 months to a year and a half. Eventually, the hot water will start to wear it out it will crack a little bit on the sides, and become more difficult to use. But, for this price, I think it is definitely worth buying.
