The Bottom Line:
If you love Photoshop and have experience this version is a must have but if you are just starting try an earlier version.
I became a Photoshop fan extremely late in life and had a hard time learning how to manage layers and .psd files. Once I figured out how to manage Photoshop and started creating my own websites, MySpace profiles, banners, I wondered how I was ever surviving without Photoshop. When CS3 was released I was not willing to upgrade right away because I wasn't sure the new version would be any better than what I had. Plus I wasn't willing to spend such a large amount of money.
Eventually I downloaded the 30 day trial and I was hooked. The new version of Photoshop incorporates the graphic animation features that were previously found in ImageReady. It is extremely easy for an experienced Photoshop user to use the program for a variety of tasks including animation. There are also many other extra features available including 3D and video production.
The major downside to the product is that it can be EXTREMELY confusing for anyone new to Photoshop or who has JUST gotten used to using previous versions of Photoshop. If you are new to Photoshop and attempting to learn using CS3 tutorials it can be hard to follow since they are often created by people who assume the user has some experience. For those who have just started to get comfortable with a previous version of Photoshop getting used to new commands and a new user interface can be frustrating to say the least.
As expensive as this version is a user must be absolutely certain that they want this product and will be able to use this product before purchasing.
