Westcott? Acme Titanium Scissor

The Bottom Line:
Westcott brand Scissors seen in Osage County First Grade are often intended for right/left hand usage, as are these particular identical finger opening scissors.
Westcott® Acme Titanium Scissor are a good, functional scissors featuring both blunt and point tips and Left/Right hand usage available for Primary age students.
As shown on this Epinions page, these signature handle; Westcott's Titanium Scissor proposed for either Right or Left Hand handling are some of the ingenious, well-designed and heavy-duty student scissors which have been brought into my First Grade classroom.
Wherever the school may be sited here in Oklahoma; Little Learners are required to provide their own class materials including crayons, pencils and scissors. The miscellany of supplies in general and bladed tools in particular found at various Big Box, and other stores, is frequently astonishing in quality, craftsmanship and price. I have learned the fancy, costly or so called name items are not necessarily the best.
I had no concept there might be so many diverse types of children's scissors manufactured by so many manufacturing companies. I was certainly unaware that countless of the bladed tools were made so defectively. Broken handles, curved blades, blades that do not meet and cut poorly if at all are just a few of the problems.
While most students entering my classroom are right handed, as is true of most of the population at large; many of the Westcott brand Scissors seen in Osage County First Grade are intended for right/left hand usage, as are these particular identical finger opening scissors. Right/Left hand openings make it a lot easier for all children to use a particular pair of scissors without needing to have separate scissor basket for classroom storage.
From the outset of my tenure in the Oklahoma Educational system; Westcott has proven to be one of the most consistent of names when it comes to good quality, functional children's bladed implements. Stainless steel, Titanium or other quality materials are provided for crafting hand-ground, mated blades. Achieving problem free, precise cutting, is accomplished more often when Westcott's bladed implements designed for children ages 7 and up are used. I know the Acme Westcott scissors will be well made, durable, and will present long term rust resistant usage.
Westcott Handles are molded to the blades indicating the scissors will be in working condition not only during one individual school term, I have found most of our scissors remain in good condition well past their warranted year usage projection.
I have never quite understood why, however, over the years, several children each year have left the scissors they brought to school behind with the declaration that the little kids next year can use these. My scissor basket is quite full; I no longer even list scissors as a necessity on my supply list today.
I like the serviceable, superior design found in these particular scissors. Featuring Westcott Acme Titanium Scissor's LustraTouchTM providing for outstanding ease and grip during usage the scissors are among the superior bladed implements available in our classroom. Westcott Acme Titanium Scissor is another type of the well made, high quality bladed instruments we use in our Osage County First Grade. We have 4 of these particular little scissors in our basket.
Until I moved to Oklahoma I really never thought much about brand name regarding children's scissors. Blades, handles, they cut, and last for years without rusting, breaking, or bending was about all I considered during the many years I taught Elementary School, First Grade and/or Kindergarten in California where l school supplies were provided by the district in which the teacher taught.
Of Course, well known brand names did often appear on the supplies provided for three classrooms where I spent the better part of my young adult life. On the other hand, the supplies and their origin was not something over which teachers had much input.
Supplies provided for my California classroom use were fixed, well made, used on daily basis, and had to be high quality to afford long lasting stability. Scissors, rulers, paint brushes were projected to be restocked rarely if ever.
Westcott manufacturer's one year warranty is a nice plus not found with all student bladed tools, then again, the scissors in our scissor basket are all so robust, some are now 5 years old and going strong with no sign of wear or tear evident.
