Easy to use, functional
Cons
software not working quite right.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Acer 320U series scanner is a very easy piece of equipment to install and use. This is a great buy for anyone who is limited experience with scanners.
The basic functionality comes quickly to anyone willing to spend a few minutes trying their first scan. The scans are quick and you are given a tremendous amount of flexibility to create the scan you want. From a hardware point of view and from a basic functionality point of view this is a good purchase to make. And for the $30 that it cost after rebate I am quite pleased.
That being said, I must say the software provided with the scanner leaves something to be desired. I'm not sure if it is because I am running off of Windows 98 and the software was designed for Windows 95, but something is wrong. Text box color changes cannot always be made. Other changes to modifying the photo are a bit elusive as the buttons are clicked. There is obviously something wrong.
When all is said and done it is a great learning opportunity and I have taken full advantage of having this piece of equipment. It is a great toy and when I'm ready, maybe I'll just by a better software package. But in the meantime, this is $30 well spent.
