This is my scanner of the moment. It can scan to suit my needs, and it's cheap. The USB interface is quite zippy, just like the scanner itself. Since it's USB instead of a parallel-passthrough design, it doesn't interfere with my printer. Some interesting problems arise with the included software, however. The included photo editor locks up HARD when it's first started, and doesn't show any signs of changing this behavior. The "Copy Machine" program included locks up so completely that I've never actually seen any non-blue-screen traces of it in operation.
On the other hand, the ancient version of Xerox OCR is quiet capable -- I've never had a problem with it.
Don't buy this scanner. The 620U has replaced it in the "dirt cheap scanner" field, and it has a better resolution. With any luck Acer will have improved the software bundle with the new model.
