The Bottom Line:
Do not buy this calculator. I bought 3 in 4 years and the screen failed on all of them.
In 2001, I started studying to become a Certified Financial Planner. The school that I went through strongly recommended the HP 10B-II financial calculator. So I bought one.
It worked well for just over a year and then the display started displaying incomplete numbers.
I really liked this calculator, so I went out and bought another one. In about the same period of time, it did it again. The display started to fail.
Silly me, I went on to eBay and bought ANOTHER ONE!!! Boy, am I a glutton for punishment. This was also a brand new unit in the original sealed plastic package.
Here we are - again, just over a year later, and the middle character on my screen does not display the horizontal pieces of the display (i.e. 1's 3's and 7's all look like 1's).
This is a true disappointment. I called HP Tech Support today and they said that if this calculator was within the 1 year warranty period that she would be able to replace (or repair - yeah right - that would be cost effective) this unit. If it is outside of the one year period, then they would not be able to do anything.
So, in conclusion, I spent more money per calculator than I should have to get and HP product, then I bought 3 calculators that all had display issues in a 4 year period.
As a brand new calculator, it functions well, looks and feels nice, and the buttons are among the best feel of any calculator that I have used. DON'T BE FOOLED - as time goes on (and not very long in my case), your display my malfunction too.
Buyer beware.
