Rent "Duck Soup" or "A Night at the Opera" instead. This is bottom of the barrel Marx Brothers
This movie was the last Marx Brothers movie that I had to see. After seeing such classics as "Duck Soup" and "Horse Feathers" I was ready to see another great Marx Bros. movie. I didn't get one.
There are a few good things about this movie. Groucho still gets to rattle off those fabulous one liners, although they are more scarce this go around. The plot is still another close line to hang some gags on, but this time it involves nazis and treasure.
My main complaint is that the gags in this movie are tired and seem to be reused from past movies. Plus, the Marx Brothers were in their late 50's, and from what I heard they only made the movie to get Chico out of debt. That isn't what you call "Inspired Comedy." Plus the ending is abrupt and there isn't any real resolution.
All in all, if you are looking for a good marx brothers movie, skip this one and rent "Duck Soup" or "A Night at the Opera". This is bottom of the barrel Marx Brothers
