(Note: This review of mine was written a while ago. At that time, there was only 1 listing for the AT&T 992 and the listing had mistakes. This listing is correct, so I am re-posting the review here and have deleted the original posting).

Pros Nice looks, plenty of features, big buttons, easy to use
Cons Needs more 1-touch dial #'s, QA/QC issues (but not with my phone)
Recommended it? Yes

Wow. OK, well it seems I'm about to offer a completely different opinion of the AT&T 992 corded telephone! After reading the other 2 opinions (as of 3/29/06) I had to ask myself if I had the same phone! The answer is YES and my experience could not be more opposite than what the other reviews... SPOKE TOO SOON --> Phone works fine - Programming is misleading

Pros Good feature set, good price.
Cons Manual/Menu misleading, not setup properly. Caller ID either inop or intermittent.
Recommended it? No

*** I thought I had the phone figured out, but I guess I didn't. The Caller ID now works intermittently. Everything reported below is still valid. It's just that the "fix" only brings it from INOP to INTERMITTENT functioning status. Not acceptable.***

People have reported the Caller ID... Read full review »

AT&T 992 a quality, value 2-line office phone

Pros Simple, easy to use 2-line phone with relatively easy setup.
Cons Programming of quick-dial preset buttons is cryptic.
Recommended it? Yes

AT&T is one of the few manufacturers offering a reliable two-line desk telephone at a reasonable price. This phone is ideal for a small or home-based business or a home with two lines.

Set-up has been improved over previous models such as the 972. The LCD display is easier to read and now... Read full review »

Cheap Two-Line phone

Pros Headset and CID compatible, battery backup, speed-dial, well laid-out keypad.
Cons Poor audio quality, hard to read LCD display, terrible speakerphone.
Recommended it? Yes

A true case of you get what you pay for, this phone is fairly cheap for an office two-line, and is of fairly cheap quality as well. I paid around US$63.00 and I feel like it's worth about US$40.00.

All SOHO phones seem to be of poor quality, and this one is no exception.

Some annoyances

Pros A basic phone with some nice features.
Cons Speaker lacks volume and LCD screen is dim.
Recommended it? No

Cordless phones have many conveniences but when I'm at my desk, I prefer a landline connection. No batteries dying mid-call, known voice quality and with this one, a speaker to conduct calls while doing work on the computer.

Having used a Panasonic KX-T2365 and GE 2-9380 for the last 14+... Read full review »

Pros Very good sound, feature packed
Cons Loud key beeps when programming (no beeps when calling)
Recommended it? Yes

I use this phone primarily with an AT&T headset and have been told that the sound on the other end is excellent. It has many nice features including selectable 1) primary number, 2) data pass through number, 3) headset or speaker plus many others. The sound is very good for the handset, speaker and... Pros Not the most expensive phone.
Cons Sound quality is BAD!
Recommended it? No

My small business needed a inexpensive phone system. I bought these phones for about $100.00 each and the quality is very poor.
The handsets do not work well; my callers cannot hear me. The speaker phone sound quality is terrible as well.
Cannot change rings for different lines and not... Read full review »

Pros 2 line w/ CID Speaker phone Headphone jack No answering machine
Cons Known issue with caller ID on 2nd line in some cases
Recommended it? Yes

Wanted a 2 line phone w/ caller ID, speaker phone and headset jack. Didn't want wireless and didn't want integrated digital answering machine - and didn't want to spend a lot of $. Found options to be limited. This phone has everything I wanted including message waiting indicator
