Great for school, traveling, or relaxing at home

Pros It's excellent for things like taking class notes, surfing the web, and emailing.
Cons Editing pictures and videos is pretty difficult, and of course there's no CD drive.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great for anyone who needs something lightweight that can do all the basics: surf the web, watch videos, take class notes, word process, and even do basic photo editing.
I bought the ASUS Eee Seashell 1005HA-PU17-BU Netbook originally for school, because it's light and has an insanely high battery life. Carrying it around all day isn't a strain on my back like my full-sized laptop was, and the battery lasts through all of my classes even with the wifi connection on (wifi can drain a battery quicker) and several programs open. The keyboard isn't full-sized, but it's easy to type on after a bit of practice, and I like the touchpad because it's textured and easy to use as well.
There's an interesting thing on this netbook that I haven't seen in many others: the Eee Super Hybrid Engine. Basically it regulates how much of the processing power the netbook uses at any one time, so if you bump the Engine speed up your netbook speeds up, too. This is great for when I need to write papers or watch videos, but it uses up the battery quicker, too, so I only tend to use the high end of the Engine's settings when I'm using the power cord.

There are other Eee programs available that I don't really use, but which I'm sure are useful to others depending on what you want to do. There's a program for syncing the netbook to another computer, multiple settings for font size and overall look of the netbook's screen, and some other things that were covered more in depth in other reviews.

Despite all the good things about the Eee PC 1005HA, there are some negative aspects as well. Not so negative it'd negate any positive aspects, but they're kind of annoying. First, the fan tends to get loud at certain times, I suppose whenever the processor is doing something important. The fan can get SO loud that it actually distracts my classmates, and so I have to quickly put the netbook to sleep so the fan shuts off (and then wake it back up again so I can continue to take notes). Secondly, the black casing gets fingerprints and other marks on it very easily, which is annoying to have to keep wiping off. And finally, the power cord is weirdly long compared to how small the netbook is, and storing it when it's not in use is a hassle.

However, despite those small problems, I'm still satisfied with my purchase after nearly a year of constant use. I can safely say it's a great buy for anyone who needs something to take to school, or on a trip, or even if you just want something small but powerful for home use. The ASUS Eee Seashell 1005HA-PU17-BU Netbook is perfect for an active life!
