One of the best laptops I've Owned
Pros
Cheap, Versitile, Small, Light Weight
Cons
No CD Drive, long cables on charger makes for extra mess.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this product for anyone looking for an ultra portable computing solution. Light weight, and small, with tons of battery life make for a great travel machine.
Where I Bought It
I was shopping at Frys electronics when I decided I wanted to buy a netbook PC. They had a few models to choose from and I decided to spend the little extra for the better battery, and the bigger screen.
Total was $349.
Features
The higher models like the 1000HA/HE offer 160gb hard drives, instead of the 4/8gb flash models, and a beefier battery that allows for up to 7 hours of continuous use.
Battery Life
They advertise these laptops can last 7 hours. So far I've owned the laptop about 6 months, and Ive used it for travel, presentations and other events. Battery is usually not a concern at all. I often forget to charge it because its not much of an issue. I always use wifi when Im using my EEE, and I get about 5-6 hours of battery life from it with the wifi turned on, and the performance settings turned up.
Portability
This is by far one of the most portable laptops Ive owned as well. Very light, easy to carry, fits in a backpack, I carry it in my vehicle, I carry it with my luggage. Its small enough and light enough that theres really no reason to not have it with you almost all the time.
Capabilities
I've loaded DIVX movies and played them to an audience on a digital projector using this laptop. Ive demo'd software and security tools to computer groups using this laptop. I use it for web browsing, presentations, web design, php programming, email, word processing, watching divx movies, youtube movies, and even some basic games.
Its over all a well balanced machine. Deffinately not a gaming system, but not many laptops are.
Problems
Aside from the ocassional need for a CD/DVD drive Ive had no problems with this machine at all.. a wireless mouse is a nice add on though as the buttons on the mousepad seem to be a bit finicky.
I did purchase an external DVD drive so I could install software or play that movie every once in a while.
