Backing Up The Big Boys
Living in the lightning capital of the United States (Florida) power outages cannot only be frequent but very annoying. Needless to say it is also very bad for your hard drive. While just about everyone who has computer equipment in there home has surge protectors, they don?t always think of a...

APC UPS 650-Controlling awesome power.
Let me begin by stating that I want to know as much about anything technical or mechanical as my spouse wants to know about how to work the washing machine or how to clean a litter box. I don't! My feelings about having a full understanding of how to work on my computer or my car are simple. As... Read full review »
No Little Storm's Gonna Get Me Now!
I bought my APC Back-UPS 500 because I had experienced loss of a hard drive due to a power surge and/or lightening during a storm. The technician wasn't for sure which, but nevertheless I am not risking it anymore. My APC Back-UPS 500 is not the Pro 500, but I could not find this exact one listed... Read full review »
Should a person be this excited about a UPS?
It?s amazing what can happen when good design is applied to a product that doesn?t really need to be improved. I?ve used various UPS? before and they?ve all performed as expected, but I?ve only expected them to protect me from the infrequent power spike or outage. However, APC has raised the bar on... Look past the marketing hype
When most people hear the term UPS, they automatically think of the parcel delivery company, but when it comes to computers, the acronym takes on a different meaning. UPS's or Uninterruptable Power Supplies are devices that are used to ensure that computers get a clean, reliable power source. If... Read full review »
Other Companies Should Take a Lesson from APC on Customer Support
I personally own four different models of APC battery backup systems, all of which have at least 500VA of power.
The Back-UPS Pro 500 was one of their higher-end "consumer or small office" models, providing 500VA of backup, with a USB cable to connect to your computer so that things shut...

THE DATA YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN!
Usually the last thing we think about when we are purchasing computer software and hardware is the quality of the electrical power to feed it. After all, power costs only about 7 cents per watt-hour to run our thousand-dollar plus investment.
CONSIDER THAT THE POWER ITSELF CAN LITERALLY...

If there's a lightning strike...
My old Back-UPS 400 was pretty useless - the battery was dead, I couldn't get another battery for it and while good as a surge protector, I was worried about my computer if a storm caused an electrical outage. Because I already owned an APC product, I decided to see what they had for an updated... Read full review »
A great backup to have
I bought this unit because I live in an area that ever so often has a power failure due to the weather. I keep my computer on so that I don't have to wait for it to start up. I have a fairly fast system but have a lot of programs that load on startup and a large number of devices attached to... Read full review »
A great insurance policy for your Macintosh
I have a PB500CLR by APC and connect it to my iMac DV. I've found it to be absolutely terrific. In fact, it has exceeded my expectations. Here are a few of the features that the PB500 has that I was looking for in a UPS:
> Software interactivity with my computer: Yes
> USB...
