Worst PC I have ever owned!

Pros Nice looking, small footprint great monitor.
Cons Slow performance, poor boot reliability. Poor keyboard and old technology rubber ball mouse.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Look elsewhere. If you have one, backup very frequently.
I have been using computers for almost 40 years (back in the main frame days). My first PC was a Commodore VIC-20, and have purchased numerous computers since.
The HP Slimeline s3020n the worst of the worst! Even a previous no-name computer that came free with an Windows NT course ran better.
This HP Slimline freezes up upon booting almost daily, especially after using the "sleep mode" a few times. Occasionally upon waking up (when it does work) the HP Slimline looses the wireless connection and has to be re-booted. I am not sure if it is Windows Vista Home Premium or the HP or both.
I have called HP and they walked me through going back to a restore point and re-install the updates. Works for a week or two, then back to the old problems again, and had to run restore. When I wrote this review, I had to run "chkdsik" and am still working on the problem. It too me well over an hour to get the HP Slimline running again.
Booting problems and the time it takes to boot aside, general operations (performance) is very slow. I'm not talking working about on line (I use a high speed cable modem), but using programs such as Word, Excel, Paint Shop Pro, etc.
This HP Slimline came with 1GB. I tried to use a SanDisk "Smart" Cruzer (4gb) USB drive as additional memory, using Vista to set up. The SanDisk is supposed to do this according to the SanDisk package label. The SanDisk USB memory would lock up this PC as well, and as soon as I removed it, the PC would boot. Again, I don't know if this is the PC or Vista or both.
There is only one USB port on the front, and not enough USB ports on the back. Need to buy a hub.
Lastly the mouse and keyboard is minimal quality. The wells inside the mechanical "rubber ball" mouse clog. Plan on upgrading to an optical mouse. The keyboard has extra keys to simplify some operations, but keys seem to have have shorter strokes that don't always enter the letters. This causes mistyped text way too often. Considering Vista does not have a spell check in "Windows Mail" be cautioned to double check your work. Same with software without a spell checker.
The only things nice is that the package LOOKS good. The HP w1907 monitor (wide screen 19 inch LCD) is nice and crisp. The HP Slimline's case and keyboard look sharp, and everything matches, but the look does not match the performance.
