The Bottom Line:
A great energy efficent processor that is powerful enough to handle all of todays applications and capable of bring overclocked to handle tommorrows.
I made the leap into dual-core 64-bit processing a year ago with this AMD be-2400 processor and haven't looked back.
The AMD BE-2400 may not be able to compete with the quad-cores in gaming, but they are many applications that still can't utilize them. So I decided to say some dough and wait until they dropped in price. To that end I decided on the BE-2400 because it was cheap, extremely energy efficent at 45w, and it was powerful enough for current games (Assasain's Creed) and home theater applications (HD PVR & Blueray).
At 2.3ghz it has enough to run newer games and high definition video, but still maxs out at on 45 watts. The low voltage range for this cpu ensures that it runs cool making it a great choice for fanless HTPCs. If you do decide you need more processing power you have a larger voltage range than a standard processor allowing for larger gains at minimum risk. Many users have overclocked up to 3.2ghz, making it a rival for triple-core processors.
If you are building an HTPC, a tide you over gaming desktop, or just want a energy efficent office pc that saves you money the AMD BE-2400 is a great choice.
