Joey finally drops the ?y? proving he?s 8:09, not 1989!

Pros Great ballads, fun up-tempos, has a lot of his personality
Cons California is definitely different.
Recommended it? Yes

Once upon a time, Joey McIntyre was the sky-eyed, mop top cutie in the distant memory of a group New Kids On The Block. I was surfing around looking for something completely different (honest!) when I came to the realization that my adolescent fantasy has a new album. Extremely skeptical I decided... 8:09 - About as emotionally deep as a raindrop

Pros Joey McIntyre fans will love it cause it's Joey McIntyre
Cons Two giant steps back from the musical growth shown in Meet Joe Mac.
Recommended it? No

Tooted as his most emotional and most personal album to date, 8:09 was highly anticipated by Joey McIntyre fans, who waited almost 4 years for a new studio LP.

Let me first start by saying I have been a fan of Joey McIntyre's since he was in NKOTB. He was my favorite, I had posters of his... Read full review »

Proof that an "Old New Kid" can learn new tricks!

Pros Different sound, different approach to lyrics and music
Cons only ten tracks with three of them sounding like filler
Recommended it? Yes

All throughout my younger years, I will very proudly admit that I was a blockhead. And Joey was my favorite "New Kid". Of course, when his first album hit the shelves I stopped at nothing to purchase it. And the second, and the third... and subsequently this one, his fourth.

I just... Read full review »

How come this cd wasn't all over radio????

Pros There's a beautiful, timeless quality to the cd that sets it apart.
Cons I guess it's not radio-friendly enough - whatever that means!
Recommended it? Yes

Right up front... I was not a fan of New Kids on the Block. I wasn't leaping over the furniture to change the TV station if their videos came on or anything - I just was a bit *coughtoooldcough* to get it. I just wanted to state that so that I wouldn't sound like a gushing fan who would ooh and ahh... Read full review »

8:09

Joey wrote all the songs on 8:09 with Emanuel Kiriakou ("Eman") who first collaborated with Joey on "Meet Joe Mac" (2001). Since then, Eman has accompanied Joey on tour in an acoustic performance affectionately dubbed, "a one man show with two people." It is all preserved on the limited edition live CD "One Too Many" recorded at Joe's Pub in New York City in April, 2002. The album was produced by Eman at Gearbox Studios in Los Angeles. Most of it was recorded during Joey's down time portraying English teacher Colin Flynn on Fox-TV's Boston Public. The album was mixed in New York at The Hit Factory by Tony Maserati except for L.A. Blue which was mixed at Ocean Way Studios in L.A. (where else?) by Jack Joseph Puig.
