The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this telescope for beginners. It is especially useful for planets and full moons.
This is my first purchase of a telescope and it is a very good beginner scope. The assembly is very easy and just minor adjustments are needed to start viewing the sky. The electronic finder is a little difficult to use. I found that if i typed in a planet or star the scope would randomly move in all directions until pointing straight up with no way for me to view the object. I have been using this on my deck so it is possible for the lack of viewing area to be the problem. The star finder also is able to not only locate a planet or star, but also follow it as the earth rotates. This is both useful and can be irritating at the same time. It does make keeping the object in sight easier, but is awkward when you have to follow the eyepiece as it moves. When looking at the moon though, craters and the lunar surface are bright and extremely clear. It is amazing to see the moon and other planets so close up and clear. I also like the idea of having a camera attachment so you could take pictures of what you see through the telescope.
