The Bottom Line:
This machine is acceptable, but I would really like to find a juicer that works on the professional level.
It is a good juicer, but this, and other Omega Juicers, are not what they once were. Too much plastic is used in the parts of the machine, including the masticator. These juicers were indestructable when all the component parts were made of metal. I think that I perceive a difference in the quality of the juicing as well. It takes longer to feed the 8005 than the centrifugal one, and it jams too easily.
I like to use the machine to make nut butters as well as juicing, but the going is very slow, and while I do like the results, I hesitate each time before I use it, because I know it is labor and time intensive.
For more than 25 years I have been a juicing enthusiast. It is troubling that many of the new machines are just not built to last as long as earlier ones. In this case a brand name that has a wonderful reputation may no longer deserve it.
When juicers are designed with plastic parts that are painted to look like metal, I begin to wonder. In this case, the machine just does not feel as solid as I would like. When all parts are metal, very little pulp remains and the machine continues to produce excellent juice for many years. I have noticed that the quality of the juice has diminished after just a few months of use.
I gave my first Omega away because I was trading up for one with a pulp extractor (these were centrifugal machines) but I miss that first one! There have been two since then, but neither had the effectiveness of the first.
