OSTER 6330 Toaster Simplicity is It?s Own Reward!
Pros
Oster Quality, Styling, Results, Versatility
Cons
Bulky
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Oster quality is apparent in their model 6330. Neat styling cues and great results; a perfect marriage of form and function!
Oster has had a long reputation for providing quality small appliances. Recently, when our Black and Decker toaster oven gave out after s considerable service life, we decided that our needs really called for a 4 slice toaster. After looking at several brands we decided on the Oster 6330 based on past experience with the brand.
Choices
The one thing that you embrace immediately with the Oster 6330 are the options available to you. This point is accented by the brilliant and, yes interesting blue leds that confirm your choices of which there are:
(1) Toast Do I really need to explain this one? It bears mentioning though, that in concert with the lighter/ darker rotary knob you can do a lot of damage quick. I recommend starting out on 1 and working your way up to your preferred. Generally if you figure approx. 45 seconds per level you can get a sense of toast time with each of the 7 levels. Interestingly enough, there 3 sub-levels in between each of the 7 levels so you can further dial in your toasty fares.
(2) Bagel Though a mundane feature it is a necessity and for those bagel aficionados, a necessity! Extra wide bread slots facilitate even toasting on both sides. I have to say, with all the toast shade levels available, it is near impossible to get bad bagels once you determine your preferred toast levels. Hamburger buns, Kaisers, cheese steak rolls on the menu, the Oster 6330 can handle them!
(3) Frozen Food This is an interesting function if you like frozen foods toasted. Not only does it defrost you foods, it then toasts them. While not perfect, it generally works well.
(4) Warm Button This feature gets used around my place for warming fresh homemade breads.
There is a cancel where you can stop toast time and eject your breads; while not like Lucy Ricardo's, it accomplishes the same thing.
Impressions
The 6330 is a fine toaster; is it perfect? Well, that is a matter of personal preference. Personally for $39.00 is does a great job. You want toast, you got it! The Oster 6330 has soul. While it sports the flashy leds, you still have the handle that your mom used to drop the toast onto her 2 element GE. The Oster 6330 features 4 elements and once the toast carriage lever is depressed, two stainless steel guides gently clamp your fare to facilitate even toasting.
The brushed chrome exterior surface is real attractive and works plays well with your stainless appliances without the cleaning headaches. Retro, futuristic, call it whatever you like; the Oster 6330 makes great toast.
One added bonus was the 57 recipe cookbook that features foods you can make with the 6330 and other Oster appliances.
Perhaps if pressed I may complain about the footprint the Oster 6330 presents. It is a little big, but then again, so was the Black & Decker.
Yes, simplicity is its own reward but in a toaster if you can get your toast and eat it too, with a few extras along the way, that's a good thing!
