Burnt edges every time
Pros
The size of the slots accommodate long and also thick breads. Great looking.
Cons
It burns the edges/crust of the bread every time, no matter what setting.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend this toaster if you like to use healthier artisan breads - unless you like a CHARRED crust. We're looking for a replacement!
My husband came home from Target with this and paid about $40.(For an appliance that gets used constantly and can typically last for years, I'd say this price is a real bargain.) He usually just buys the first thing he sees (hates to shop and compare quality, etc), but this time I thought he did really well.Sharp looking toaster. Easy controls. Easy to clean. Especially love the size of the slots for the artisan breads that are made at our local gourmet Farmer's Market. But what good are these great features if the crust of the bread burns every time? Not just burns, but chars. We've tried everything - all different temperatures - and then using 2 cycles but at a lower temperature, using the frozen bread setting, the bagel setting. The center part of the bread is perfect; it is just the crust that burns every time. If you cut the crust off anyway, then this is the toaster for you. Maybe it will work fine on machine-made packaged bread that is stacked up in the grocery store. But is is terrible for the homemade denser type breads. After cutting off burnt edges for 3 months now, I'm now on the search for a replacement.
