The Bottom Line:
For the price this is a great deal, this is very versital and you will not be disappointed.
When you have a large family such is the case with our family the hardest thing to do as your children grow up and sprout their wings is to down size. When we had all of our kids under one roof we had an old four slice toaster that lasted for several years. But, it now is time to down size to a two slice toaster and the hardest thing to do is to try and decide what brand name of toaster that you would like to purchase. Because lets face it, you can only do one thing with a toaster, so if you purchase a cheap one or an expensive one, they will both do the same thing and that is toast your bread or muffins.
This two slice toaster from Oyster was not very expensive and we have used this to toast English muffins, pop tarts, bagels, white, and wheat bread. Because this toaster is a little bit wider than most it will accept the bagels with ease. This also has the look of a 1950 chrome or shiny stainless steel style model toaster. This nostalgic looks make this a very attractive sight on the counter. This has one lever that you can push down and both sides will go down at the same time. You will not be able to push these sides down separately, if you only want one piece of toast or half of a bagel then both sides will still go down at the same time. All of the heating elements will light up whether you have one piece or two pieces of toast inside.
The item that you stick inside sometimes will not come all the way out and so you will need to use a pair of wooden tongs to pull the toasted item out of the side of the toaster. This also has very nice crumb tray which is very easy to remove, our older model one never had a tray, and we used to have to always turn the four slice toaster up side down to get all of the crumbs to fall out.
This toaster came with a one year toaster, in which if you think of it I do not ever remember any time the last time that someone told me that they had to take a toaster back or call the company because the toaster did not work for them. Especially since this only costs ten dollars. It would be a lot easier if you would just throw this away and get another one for the same price.
We now have only three people in our family and this size toaster is the perfect size. If we still had 8 people in our family I do not think that this would be big enough to handle a family of that size. Since this has wider openings for bagels to fit in, a lot of times if you get a thin slice of bread, it will still be a little sloppy inside of the slot. For the most part, if you put a small muffin inside of this toaster, you will definitely need a tool to get the muffin out of the slot.
Conclusion
I can recommend this for a small family, this has lasted us for a couple of years and it cleans up with ease. This only weight less than five pounds and will fit nicely into a cabinet when not in use.
