Great Basic Toaster
Pros
Slightly retro look, doesn't burn your toast, price
Cons
Varying degrees of toastiness, adjustments required
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
It is an attractive, well functioning toaster for the money. Recommended.
My husband bought this toaster because our old one had finally bit the dust - much to our relief. The reason he bought this one was because it looked simple, uncomplicated, and it was on sale. Being a guy the stainless steel and black (rather than white) appealed to him and I am glad that it did.
Let me get to the good stuff... The toaster itself is simple and classic and a bit on the retro side with the stainless steel. There is, however, a contemporary edge with the black plastic knobs and buttons. I has many settings for your toast preferance and a cancel button in cause your spouse sets the toaster too dark and you are a lightly toasted person. The release that pops the toast out is good and reliable and I have yet to encounter a pice of bread/bagel/pop tart that has jammed it. The toasting plates inside are substaintial enough that your food does not get singed by the heating elements.
The bad stuff... The toaster does not account for previous use and your toast becomes darker and darker if you toast them in succession. This has proven to be rather a problem because I have three kids who all want their nutella sandwiches at the same time and I have to compensate by turning the dark level button down. I would say that having only two slots is a negative however I have seen the four slot machines and would not want to sacrifice the counterspace.
That being said this is a great basic toaster for singles/marrieds/or marrieds with children and small kitchens. It will not break the bank and you get a good deal what you pay for it.
