The Bottom Line:
I'm still glad that I bought the Capresso: excellent grinder for a reasonable price. I just shudder when I have to clean it.
I've had my Capresso 560 for 3 months. Its virtues include: good price for a conical burr grinder (necessary to produce uniform-sized grains of coffee); simple to use; quick; easy adjustment across a huge spectrum of grain sizes. The Capreso is so good at all of those basic functions, I'll never go back to buying pre-ground coffee: mornings would never be the same without this aroma and flavor!
But any coffee grinder must be kept clean; or stale, sour leftover grounds will accumulate to spoil your brews. Cleaning the Capresso is awkward. In fact, I've never been able to get it completely clean; and I always end up with some spilled grounds on the countertop or on the floor.
Part of the problem is the shape of the Ground Coffee Container. It looks cool, I suppose, but it has awkward angles to it, creating corners to which coffee grounds cling; and some grains of coffee always spill out when it is removed following grinding. To minimize clean-up from those spills, my Capresso now sits atop a piece of paper towel.
Trying to remove all residue from within the body of the Capresso is much worse. I've tried using a fine brush. I've tried using a hand-held vacuum cleaner. Neither gets all the residue out. And some powdery grains always end up falling out away from the trash bin.
