Could be better
Pros
Wasn't very expensive. Does espresso and coffee. Easy to keep clean.
Cons
Cheaply built. Doesn't do either espresso or coffee well. Hold and serve leaks.

The Bottom Line:
Unless you absolutely can't find a different unit; walk right on by the West Bend Espresso/Coffee machine.
We purchased this about 3 years ago after our Cuisenart coffee maker had a stroke.
From the beginning we weren't impressed with this dual purpose caffeine dispenser. The steamer worked okay for making hot chocolate; but didn't do really well at espresso. The coffee side made coffee; just not very well nor very hot (the hot part doesn't bother me since I like my coffee just below hot). The heat doesn't seem to get high enough during the making of the coffee to extract all the flavor (I grind my coffee just before brewing; so normally it's nice and strong).
If there was a return policy on coffee makers that didn't make coffee that tasted well; we would have returned this one years ago. Now we're just waiting for it to die so we can go get another one. One I hope will make coffee to die for; or wake up for.Something I have found that helps a little bit when making coffee; is to use the hottest tap water you can get. I've tried to boil water on the stove then dump it in; but it doesn't seem to do any better than the hot water from our tap.Friends also suggested we take a pinch of salt and add it to the coffee grounds; that just made for some salty'ish flavored coffee.
