Pros Quick, fun, easy to read, suspenseful, different story angles/subplots
Cons Sometimes hastily written, not the most complex of mysteries
Recommended it? Yes

After reading the first three novels in the James Patterson "women's murder club" series, I was looking forward to reading "4th of July." I purchased this book once it came out in paperback to bring on a summer vacation trip.

This book is actually written by both James Patterson and... Read full review »

4th Of July - Patterson gives most of the characters a holiday in this one.

Pros Two intriguing stories.
Cons But it's supposed to be about four women, not one woman and a dog!
Recommended it? Yes

4th Of July is the fourth book in James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series.  In this case, Patterson has teamed with Maxine Paetro.  Typically, these books revolve around four professional women in the San Francisco area who put their heads together to solve local murder cases.   But in this... Lindsay is Mostly on Her Own

Pros Fast moving; twisty plots
Cons Weak climax; hardly any Cindy and Claire
Recommended it? Yes

4th of July is a departure from the first three books in the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson.  While those books revolved around Lindsay Boxer, the head of homicide in San Francisco, the other female main characters were still a strong presence.  In this book, however,... Cons Near to nothing in this one.

The Women's Murder Club has become a phenomenon, if you ask me. With six books under his belt and an ABC television series to his credit, James Patterson is living the good life. He has more books on the shelf than…notes in an opera. Fourth of July is obviously the fourth in the series deemed... Read full review »

Pros Great character development, fun story
Cons Predictable.

Usually when an author has a great series, an alternate series is lacking. Not so with James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series – it rivals his Alex Cross series. Both are filled with action packed pages and characters to which the reader can relate.

In 4TH OF JULY, Lindsay is accused... Read full review »

Pros Good characters, plot never stops
Cons Predictable, one can figure outcome almost immediately

The story of this book is double plotted which keeps twisting and turning with some good suspenseful scenes in it. This is another book from the very prolific James Patterson. It seems he has about two or three books a year. This series has Lindsay Boxer in it. She is a detective.

The best of this series

Cons a little rushed at the end

If you love James Patterson's Alex Cross series, but you've had a lukewarm reaction to the Women's Murder Club series then this is the book for you! Patterson focuses more on Lindsay Boxer and less on the Club as a whole. The other women make a fine supporting cast, but this book lacks token... Read full review »

4th of July

From the Publisher: After losing one of its own, Lindsay Boxer and the Women s Murder Club make a courageous return for their fourth and most chilling case ever--one that could easily be their last. A young girl is killed in crossfire after a routine arrest goes terribly wrong, and Lt. Lindsay Boxer has to defend herself against a charge of police brutality. In a landmark trial that transfixes the nation, Lindsay fights to save her career and her sanity. While awaiting trial, Lindsay escapes to the beautiful town of Half Moon Bay, but the peaceful community there is reeling from a string of unspeakable murders. Working with her friends in the Women s Murder Club, Lindsay finds a link between these killings and a case she worked on years before--an unsolved murder that has haunted her ever since. As summer comes into full swing, Lindsay battles for her life on two fronts: before a judge and jury as her trial comes to a climax, and facing unknown adversaries who will do anything to keep her from the truth about the killings-- including killing again. It all comes to a head before the big annual 4th of July celebration on the waterfront at Half Moon Bay. Patterson fine-tunes the tension like never before in this heart-racing new novel in the bestselling detective series to debut in years.
