Hamilton Beach 40886 Cordless Electric Kettle

The Hamilton Beach 40886 Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle works just great and I think it is a good value. I bought this because the floor model felt solid and easy to use. I also like the look of stainless steel, which makes this kettle a handsome addition to the kitchen. 1500 watts of power allows for fast water boiling from the internal concealed heating element. This kettle also has boil-dry protection which means it will automatically shut off if turned on without water.

When I brought it home, set up was a cinch. The bottom charging base has a cord winding space underneath for excess cord. I like that. The base also lets you rotate the kettle 360 degrees, making it easy to pick up and set down from any angle. I gave the kettle itself a quick rinse and noticed the removable calcium filter. That's a good thing. I have never really seen this get covered with particles, but the manual says it cleans quickly with a scrub with an old clean toothbrush. Filling the kettle is easy because the top opening is tilted a little forward. It doesn't sit flat centered. This is in fact a good thing, as when you are holding the kettle normally, the top opening is flat. The handle doesn't get in the way of filling the kettle.

It boils water well! I filled it with a few cups of water and went to choose some tea. Within a few minutes, the water was boiling and the kettle shut itself off. I poured water out into my cup and noticed the spout was well designed and did not spill or pour too quickly. Later on, the water was still pretty hot for my second cup of tea, but I hit the switch again to boil up the water anyway. I found it reboiled the water quickly too. In the following months, I have boiled many more kettles of water without a problem.

In scrutinizing this kettle, you'll notice that the handle is well made and never gets warm. It is made of tough plastic. The little window lets you know how much water you have in the kettle and this lights up when the kettle is on. It's a nice indicator if you are a little tired in the morning. The base has little rubber feet that keeps it from slipping, but it moves when you want it to move. The top lid is easy to remove for filling. It does get hot when the water is boiling, but there is no need to touch it during the boil. If you boil the maximum amount of water, 1.7 litres/quarts, it does take a little while. However, that is the nature of physics. If that is my only complaint, I must say this is a glowing review.

All in all, this is a great kettle with great value. I expect years of boiling hot water from this product. I love not having to hover over my stove top kettle, waiting for it boil or having to run to the kitchen to answer my stove top kettle's whistle. Having the Hamilton Beach Cordless Electric Kettle has improved my life by freeing up my time and lowering my personal stress.
