The Bottom Line:
The best way to keep your important information tabbed and easily accessible.
I first became interested in 3M Post-It Flags when they first came on the market. I began using them for school to mark pages that were most important to me, for studying and test purposes. Over the years, I've continued to use them. Most recently I began working in a job that actually requires me to use them to mark certain paperwork in case files. There are no if, ands, or buts about using these tabs. They are required, but I really don't mind because I believe they are very useful.
These 3M Post-It Flags come in a neat little plastic container that fits in any small space. I can carry them around in my work bag, leave them in a desk drawer or even stick them in a binder pocket to always have them around. One small flag peeks out of the opening you just pull it straight out and then another one pops out in its place. They are very easy to use and I have never had a problem with more than one flag coming out at a time. These standard flags come 1 x 1-3/4 in. size and the dispenser holds 50 flags.
These flags can be reused, which saves you a little money in the long run. I currently reuse the one's for my school books because they still stick, without falling off, after they've been used a few times. I have never had a problem with a flag loosing it's stickiness and falling off. The best thing about these flags is that you can write on them if needed. This comes in handy for me because I often have court documents that I tab because of important dates. This way, I can just read what I've written on the flag and easily flip to the documents I need. I save a lot of time this way because I don't have to search through the file for what I need, especially when the file is very large. With the darker color flags, you may have to use a sharpie to make the writing dark enough to read through. Another great thing about these flags is that they come in a variety of colors. I use blue the most, but also use yellow, bright pink, green, orange, and red in each one of my files.
One thing that I have seen mentioned about these flags is the fact that they cannot be used on every surface. Because of the stickiness factor, you may have trouble using them on delicate surfaces. I doubt you would want to flag a page in the newspaper because the flag may end up pulling some ink off of the page. I have never had this problem when using these flags on my paperwork. These flags have an adhesive end and a colored end. The adhesive ends are clear so if you place them on a page, you can see through them. Covering up words is not a problem.
You can purchase these flags at any office supply store, most drugstores, mass merchandisers and even some grocery stores. We purchase them through Corporate Express because we use so many of them. We get them by the box so get a good discount. They run between $2-3 for one 50 pack in the stores.
Overall, how many more times can I say how much I love these flags? There are so many uses for these students, researchers, and just regular employees in any company dealing with important paperwork. I still continue to use them for schoolwork now that I am back taking classes. Reading material, homework that needs to be completed, and certain notes that I think will come in handy are just a few of the reasons I use these for school. I don't have a choice to use them at work, but if I did, I would still be using them. I just cannot imagine what my files would look like if I didn't flag my paperwork, or how long it would take me to find a certain court order if I had to look through an entire file for it.
