My multifunctional paperweight
Pros
Small for multifunctional printer. Other than that it's horrible!
Cons
Very slow, drinks ink like water, paper jams constantly, broke after a few months.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
It is that cheap for a reason. Very slow, expensive to own, chews up paper, apparently has a short life span.
This is one of the worst printers ever made.I bought it to replace an HP I used heavily for about 8 years and was retired with full honors. I had this printer for around 7 months and I only used it lightly. However, I quickly have grown to hate it.
It is extremely slow and requires constant supervision. The printer mode kept going back to the printers defaults, either making it print really slow and use up lots of ink, or making me have to reset the properties every time I print from some(nearly all) programs. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the computer needs to be on to do anything with the printer (including copying) and it does not really fax (you can make it fax by scanning and using a fax modem). However, this is to be expected from lower priced multifunctionals.
The paper also constantly jams. The voice is certainly very pleasant when it tells you the printer is jammed nearly every time you print. The voice has grown so familiar that I have actually named him Ernie (actually, I believe that the company purposely anthropomorphizes the printer so you become so attached to it you don't realize how bad it is!).
This printer drinks ink. A cartridge that would last about a year and a half in my old printer was emptied in about 5 months in this one, with a lot less usage. That is certainly not cost effective. The printer attempts to tell you how much ink is left in the cartridge, but I would not trust it the night before a term paper is due. Then again, there is not a lot about printer I would trust a term paper with.
Finally, the printer has died. It is still with me in spirit as Ernie's voice on my computer, however, he gives me no happy news. He only tells me about communications failures and printer failures. I have restarted my computer, plugged in and unplugged everything dozens of times, and reloaded the software (it comes with software for the printer, copier, and scanner), all with no avail. I am afraid it is all over and the printer is ready for a dishonorable discharge to a computer geek's workbench. I an now going out to find a new printer. I was looking for a good complaint line on the lexmark site to let loose on, but I have to write this instead. Oh well, I hope this helps.
