Many moons ago, when I was doing my bridal registry, I begged my husband to put a Crock Pot on the list. For several years afterwards, I nagged at him to buy one whenever we passed one in the store. He kept turning me down because he didn't see any value in a Crock Pot and doubted that we would use... Read full review »

Pros Functional oval shape, attractive exterior, large capacity
Cons Cooks on VERY high heat and cremates meat, cannot replace lid.
Recommended it? No

We received this crock pot as a wedding present in May 2005 after we requested it on our registry.  We used it about once every couple of months until this Christmas (December 2008).   I liked the crockpot's stainless-steel exterior.  The oval shape was great for roasting larger pieces of meat,... Pros Nice appearance, nice insert, cooks food quicker than most other crockpots, nice size.
Cons Plastic handles break easily, replacement costs were not reasonable, not worth the money.
Recommended it? No

I bought this unit because of the name brand and because of it's size. I use my crockpot at least once a week on average, so I was willing to invest in something that would last.

My first unit had a malfunction and the manufacturer finally allowed me to return it after receiving numerous... Read full review »

Pros Looks good, cooks well, lasted quite a while so far
Cons Lid handle broke off, timers could be better
Recommended it? Yes

It's that crockpot time of year again. I've been through a few - but they always seem to be Rival. This one, as far as I'm concerned, has been the best so far. Not perfect, but not bad.
I received this as a birthday gift about a year and a half ago - irritatingly, when I unpacked the box, the... Read full review »

Pros Easy, nutritional, delicious meals. Great way to use whatever you have. Just throw it in!
Cons Must fill up or food sticks and burns. A bit heavy for me to handle.
Recommended it? Yes

I was a professional cook and it is still my passion. Having had a restaurant and catering business, I have practically every cooking device ever invented by mankind. Yet, I have never used a slow cooker until recently.

A friend made ribs in a slow cooker that blew me away. Another friend... Read full review »

I bought this product at a Home depot store because It was on clearance for $24.99 and I have been meaning to buy a slow cooker for quite some time now.... I figured I couldnt beat this price and the brand helped seal the deal for me. I had no idea how to use a slow cooker so I went to the local... Read full review »

Pros Sleek looking stainless and black exterior, with an updated LCD control and timer.
Cons Unreliable cooking time and stainless body of the cooker is extremely hot while cooking.
Recommended it? No

I received the Rival Oval Programmable Stainless Steel Crock Pot (5.5-qt) as a Christmas present. My crock pot was over 20 years old. It still worked but the temperature/on/off knob was becoming unreliable and I wanted an oval crock instead of the round crock.

The Rival unit has a sleek... Read full review »

Pros Looks nice.
Cons WAY too hot for normal use.
Recommended it? No

I purchased this crock pot in anticipation of making a huge spaghetti dinner for the Boy Scouts of America. What drew me to this particular slow cooker was the capacity (6 Quarts), the timer (4 or 6 hours high, 8-10 hours low), and the "keep warm" feature which it will switch to automatically when... Pros Sleek design Nice price Lid fits on tightly to prevent steam loss.
Cons Touch pad died too quickly. Unit gets hot to the touch.
Recommended it? No

I've been a big fan of Rival slow cookers since my mom bought one when I was a kid. I loved coming home from school and smelling her Coq au Vin, the dish I still cherish most. I needed a new slow cooker and opted for the sleek looking Rival model with the touch pad buttons rather than the bulky... Read full review »

Pros Worked at first
Cons Does not heat up!
Recommended it? No

I bought this crockpot with confidence approximately two years ago. I figured Rival was a well known brand name, and my parents' crockpot has lasted over 30 years. I used it with no problems on an occasional basis (once a month, or so). After owning it for just under two years, the crockpot no... Read full review »
