The Bottom Line:
For families with lots of animals and/or kids, this vacuum does the trick
It was very important for me as a new mom with many animals to keep a clean floor for my baby to crawl on. My dogs and cats create lots of dirt and hair that buries itself into the carpet on a daily basis. I wanted a bagless vacuum to eliminate having to buy yet ANOTHER thing every couple of months or so.
Since I vacuum everyday, I would say the CleanView II bagless vacuum is very durable. It has worked great for us, and sucks a good amount of dirt and hair that accumulates on our carpet everyday. There are two filters, one on top of the compartment that carries all the dirt/hair/whatever else, and one on the bottom. To change these, you only have to turn a lever and pop them out. As long as these stay fairly clean, the vacuum will suck with adequate power.
The vacuum says it works on bare floors, but that is not really true. It leaves behind crumbs. However the attachment for floors works well and fits nicely into corners. The vacuum has 7 height adjustments, starting with BARE FLOOR and going to LOW CARPET all the way to HIGH CARPET. I have played around with these, and I have noticed that the lower setting works well even on a medium length carpet because is sits lower to the ground and pulls up the carpet a bit more.
The dirt container is conveniently transparent so it is easy to tell when it is full and needs to be changed. There is also a headlight that automatically turns on when you power on. The cord is long enough to stretch all the way around my 300 sq feet living room and down the 15' hallway.
One thing I don't like about this vacuum is that it is rather heavy and is difficult to carry it down stairs. It does, however, flatten in order to reach under beds, which is a handy feature. It comes with an upholstery tool that is pretty useless. I tried it on my curtains and it was more of a pain than anything else. The attachment just kept falling off the hose.
As far as noise goes, it is pretty standard. It is not the loudest, but it is certainly not the quietest, either! Overall, I think this vacuum works well for families with animals. It picks up hair really well and is easy to clean. One thing that you have to make sure to do, though, is change the filters often because if you don't, the vacuum will spit back dust and remnants into the air. For the excellent price, I am surprised at how well it cleans.
