This collection includes some of the finest work by Tejano legend Little Joe. His best polka rancheras are here in the galloping "Ni Nena," the robust "Acabame de Matar," and the party-rouser "Borrachera." Joe also throws in his appreciation of trad country with the standard shuffle "Waltz Across Texas" and his duet with Willie Nelson on "You Belong to My Heart," an English-language remake of Agustin Lara's "Solamente una Vez." But Little Joe has always been a serious student of the great Mexican folkloric songwriter José Alfredo Jimenez. He pays his respects with above-average takes on the endless love ode "Paloma Querida," the reflective "Aunque Pasen los Años," and the bittersweet- resignation song "Pa' Todo el Año." --Ramiro Burr
