More of a truck than the S-10 or Sonoma
Pros
Truck feel, heavy duty, large tires, nice looking
Cons
sun roof rattle, not improved mileage for the V5
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A good truck for a decent price - plenty of room, good heavy duty feel for a small truck, short bed on crew cab model.
This truck is a wonderful addition to our family arsenal. I owned a series of S-10s prior to this and the switch to GMC was prompted by the heavier duty suspension and truck-like feel it provided. It is also more sleek looking as it does not have the black plastic fender wells that the Chevy Colorado does.
I purchased the four door crew-cab model and it is plenty roomy for two full sized adults in the back. We needed the back for a car-seat for my son and it fits very well behind my wife's seat. I will admit that I don't think one would fit behind the driver's seat if the driver was tall.
The only negative I have is that I have expereienced very annoying rattles in the factory instaled sun/moon roof. I have had it to the dealer several times and the rattle only goes away temporarily. I didn't look for the sunroof, just bought one that was on the lot. Would avoid it next time.
The inline 5 cylinder has decent acceleration, but does nothing for saving gas. I still only get around 19 MPG highway which is no better than the S-10 would get with a V6. I was hoping to save a little mileage wise.
