AT&T 1722. Style Over Substance.
The AT&T 1722 is one of the latest stand-alone telephone answering machines to be added to the AT&T consumer telephone roster. It appears to be aimed at people who don't get many messages and have no need for multiple mailboxes.

This was a replacement for a Panasonic KX-TM100b which after 3 years began to develop periodic failures. Forget this one...
My replacement for my first AT&T 1722 answering machine just failed in exactly the same way the first one did; it no longer records messages. Muddy sound
Was very cheap, and you get what you pay for. I don't know if it's the speaker or the sampling rate or something else, but the sound quality is just awful. Poor sound quality
The sound quality of this answering machine is very poor. Most messages sound like the person had a towel over the phone. Also, there are frequent "dropouts". Disappointed with AT&T quality (in St. Louis)
It did fair quality service for 22 months, then it became unreliable. It would answer (and record) non-existent calls and not reliably record all actual calls, after its initial fair performance for 22 months. Read full review »
