The BOSE name certainly is a good one, and these speakers deliver. If used in a large room with a lot of angles (sloping ceiling, several coves, etc), then they don't seem to be enough, though. You will definitely require additional help for a surround sound feel unless you are in a small area. Although these say indoor / outdoor, they are not the type of thing I would ever want to put outside - not even on a covered patio in cold climate.
