The Bottom Line:
Cheap game that is easy to play.
I bought Pool Party for the Nintendo Wii because on another game that we have there was a mini pool game that we liked but we wanted more to it. In the mini game we already had you can only play 8 ball and in Pool Party for Nintendo Wii 12 different pool games. I knew when I was buying this game that it wasn't going to be the best because I got it new for about $15 on Amazon.com and most Wii game are about $30, but I was just hoping for a little fun pool game out of it.
Types of Games;
The 12 games are; Bonus 9 Balls, Time Attack, 9 Ball, 8 Ball, 10 Ball, 15 Ball, Straight Pool, Rotation Pool, Blackjack, Full Snooker, Short Snooker, and Killer. And there is also a one player practice mode. Bonus 9 Balls and Time Attack are only one player games and all the rest can be played 1-2 players or against the computer.
Bonus 9 Ball - In 20 shots or less you have to get all nine balls in. I am not a fan of the one player games and I could never do this anyway because I am not that good, at least not yet.
Time Attack - You have 15 minutes to get all nine balls in. I am not good enough for this game either and it is also a one player game.
9 Ball - You have to pocket each ball 1 to 9 in that order and the person who hits the 9 ball in wins. This game is hard because you have only one ball to try for at a time.
8 Ball - You either become solids or stripes by whoever hits the first ball in. After hitting all of your balls in you can go for the 8 ball. The person who hits the 8 ball in wins. This is my favorite game and one of the easier ones.
10 Ball - Just like 9 Ball but with 10 balls. Even harder.
15 Ball - You try to pocket as many of the 15 balls as you can and get more points then your opponent. The points are the numbers on the each ball. I enjoy this game because there is no real order to it. It is also one of the easier ones.
Straight Pool - I have to pocket every ball or you opponent gets a turn if you miss. The one who pockets the most balls wins. A pretty easy game also.
Rotation Pool - On every shot you have to hit the lowest numbered ball first. Each ball is worth the points of the number that it on it. The person with the most points at the end wins. I found this game was pretty hard to play.
Blackjack - The balls that you make in the pockets must add up to 21. This game is fun but it takes some thinking. And it is hard to keep from hitting in the wrong ball.
Full Snooker - There are 15 red balls and 6 colored balls. You must first pocket all of the red balls, and then you must pocket the colored balls in order by their numbers. It is hard to get all of the red balls in before hitting the colored balls.
Short Snooker - Same as Full Snooker but there are 10 red balls.
Killer - Bach player is given only 3 lives and every time you misses a shot you lose a life. The player who lives longest wins. This game is very hard and I can't get anywhere with it.
Characters;
The characters were one of things I did not like about this game because you can't use your Mii's and your characters points don't save or add up. There isn't really much point to the characters they are just heads and don't even have arms to shoot with. The only point I found is that when you see your character it means that it is your turn. I would go through the different characters and the little information they give about them but there isn't much point because what I have found is that they don't do anything different they are just different faces.
Settings and controls;
The game starts you off with three different rooms to pick from, one table, one ball set, one cue set, and a few music choices. Every time you win a game they give you something else such as a new ball set to pick from. I will worn you that the music gets annoying after a bit it doesn't matter which one you pick. And as far as the controls go they take some time getting used to. Practice Mode is a good way to learn how to use the controls. In practice mode the goal is just to get the balls in the pockets however you like.
Over all;
This game doesn't have much to it and the graphics aren't great but I like this game. We don't seem to play it as long as some other games but we take it out every now and again and have some fun.
