Ok, when we look at this, it has a very cool box. Oh great, a cool box. I opened up my special collectors edition to reveal a lot of worthless junk, the only thing worth keeping to be a special dvd trailer of all the cut-scenes. I watched the dvd, impressed with a good and interesting story line. Then after a long time of installing, it was time to play the long awaited sequel to diablo. I begin play, like most people, I wanted to try out the internet first and get an account started. So, I pick on of 5 characters. I chose the amazon, the closest thing to a rogue. Now, there are gateways in battle.net, which most people use for internet gaming with blizzard. Now, I get to select a gateway, which would save characters on-line to prevent any kind of cheating. This sounded great. Then, I finnaly get into battle.net with a new chat system. Very cool. I start up the join list for games, and I find a long list. Must be a lot of people who bought this. I pick one, say hi, and start running around. At first I was very discouraged, because despite a 3-d kind of look, most of the time I was getting pixilated monsters and I didn't look all that great myself. But the main thing here was gameplay. So, im killing monsters, then some weird things start to happen. When I kill monsters, they pause in mid-death, then 5 seconds later they blink to the ground. What was with this? The lag? Ok, it went down hill from there. The internet got even more lag, and then servers started crashing. When I played, the lag was so poor, half the time the server couldn't display the monsters and I was getting hit by things I couldn't see or high light. I died quiet a few times. So I quit multiplayer and started on single player. It was much better, but sadly, the visuals were the same. I got really into it and got my character to lvl 22 as of now. It is a fun game, but something must be done for multi-player or this long awaited sequel will burn out fast.
So, who wants to hear about spells? Well, there are none, except for identify and town portal. Now you have skills, which are reached after every level, another skill point, to be added to a skill I can learn. there are diffrent skills for each of the 5 characters. Now this is great, I have to make 5 diffrent characters to get the experiance of all the spells, I mean, skills. And then I put the game down finnaly and saved. I returned later and headed out of town, only to find that the entire map, which was the same as before, was filled with monsters. I had practiclly cleared the entire area before. This was not a great start off for the second day of playing. So, now im on act 3, fighting over and over, and it seems to be getting more and more repetitive. Once they fix multi-player, I might go back to the faithful Diablo series. But for now, I will stick with starcraft.
