The good and the bad...

This game is simply very good! Let's start of with the positives first...
In this Gauntlet Legends type of game, you can pick from 5 characters. Each of them having a unique set of skills. Most likely, you will mainly focus on 1 of the 3 skill set for each character. With 3 difficult level settings, this game almost has an unlimited amount of replayability. If you have been playing games from Blizzard from the past years, you will know that they make some of the best games ever, every one of them so far has been a game of the year. Diablo 2 hasn't been out long enough for that to happen, but I'm sure it will. Playing in single player is fun, but playing online is where it's at! That's how you show off your high level characters and valuable items! There is something called a "Ladder", where the top players/characters of your part of the country are posted. Working up to this ladder is challenging, but it is very fun once your up there! Everytime you play online, you just can't help but to either raise your level (gain experience), find new items, or complete another quest. This game is very addictive! When they cleared the ladder at 12:01 new years day, people who wanted to get on the ladder had to create new ones (starting at level 1) after this time. On new years day, at about 12 noon, I started to play this game and looked at the ladder, there were already people up to level 63! Which means they have been playing since 12:01 am like crazy! If you think you are really bad at games and can't get on the ladder like most of us, think again. In Diablo 2, you can gain wealth buy finding randomly dropped items that the monsters drop. Even a newbie can find a unique item that everyone wants! You can trade it for a nice bow if you an Amazon or a powerful sword if you a Barbarian. I can't remember clearly, but I somehow traded someone something for a Stone of Jordan (one of the most wanted items in the game!). With 4 different Acts (levels) containing 6-7 quests (sub-levels), 5 character classes to choose from, hundereds of skills, thousands of items, this game is just simple the best! The movies in between each Act is some of them best I've seen! Smooth 3D rendered animations that will blow you away!
Now, for the drawbacks of this game...
After all this time Diablo 2 has been in development, there has been many bugs and problems with the game. Players have lost valuable items and characters, they just disappeared from the game due to bugs! Luckly, many of us have not experienced these kinds of problems. These are the players that write good reviews, and the people who have lost something, they write bad ones. I'm not saying this game is totally good, but just make sure their review doesn't have some kind of lost that effects their opinion over the whole game. Blizzard are working hard to release patches and fixes to fix as much of these problems as they can. Servers are being updated regularly and in the end, everything will be alright. They have just announced that they will be repairing any lost characters soon! Diablo 2 is still kind of unstable right now, with the lack of servers that can't handle the thousands or more players that are playing right now and the bugs that have yet to be found.
Another thing is the graphics, they don't look like anything new. In fact, they pretty much haven't changed since the first Diablo. Slight changes, but not that much, although the second act does have some amazing visuals...
I do recommend this game, but if you can't handle the draw backs, don't buy it, although this risk of that happening is very low. Nothing has happned to me yet.
If you really want the game, but don't even want to risk any chance then I suggest you to wait for the Diablo 2 expansion pack to come out. The expansion will be like a separate game from Diablo 2 online. That means People who only have Diablo 2 can't play or trade with anyone on Diablo 2 on the expansion. The expansion will have two new character class, updates, fixes, and tons more items. By that time, Diablo 2 will be very stable, with the patches that come out often and the huge "patch" that the expansion will contain.
