It sure it is. Why I'm not sure. I purchased the game diablo about 3 years ago. I became addicted to that game. It was an exciting rpg. It was the most advanced game for years. Now when I heard they were making a Diablo 2 I went berserk. I was so excited. I checked the official Diablo website every day for new news and information on Diablo 2. I downloaded every movie and trailer for it. It got pushed back 2 whole years but the game quality is so good it is worth it. A game with a following of about 5 million before the game has even come out had to be great.
Well when the game finally came out July 4, 2000 it was great. It was better than great the game was extrodanary. I became addicted over the summer. I learned every aspect of the game. Now let me tell you about the actual game. There are 5 characters to choose from Barbarian smashes stuff, sorceress spells, necromancer raises and army of undead, and a paladin the priest with magic. All the characters are awesome (except for the paladin he is lame) Each character is totally different and unique. The characters each have a unique skill tree. Each time you level up you get a point to put into the tree. The skills range from improving damage of a weapon to raising skeletons and undead minions.
There is something for everyone I Perrier going in and being the big guy who smashes stuff up. That isn't for everyone. My good friend prefers raising a massive army of undead minions. This game is massive having 4 acts. The game had to have 3 CDs to install. The cinematic are amazing. When you beat an act you get to see an amazing cinematic.
There are hundreds of different weapons you can use. A few examples are mauls, staffs, wands, swords the list is nearly endless. There are tons of different armor, shields, helms, rings, boots, and belts. All these items to truly make your character original and your own. That way you can customize your character to a greater extent than ever seen before.
The visuals and sounds are amazing. The art is truly out of this world. I love hitting stuff and hearing an URRRRG! or the peter patter of my feet as I walk along the massive world.
Another great thing is you get to play online for free. They provide a free online service. Most games charge you 15 bucks a month to play online. The only problem I have ever had with diablo is the servers. They are often down and on weekends it is very laggy because there aren't enough servers to support all the people.
