Fighting for the Good Guys

Pros A good, fun game overall
Cons The Ending???
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It is a great game, definitely worth trying out, especially for fans of role-playing/adventure games.
I have been a Diablo fan ever since I was first introduced to the original, in a small town in France. As soon as I returned home, I bought it for my boyfriend, and we played it until all hours of the night.

Times have changed, my boyfriend is now my husband, and the game is now Diablo 2. But we are still up until the wee hours of morning, killing bosses and discovering new and interesting weapons and skills.

The flow of plot from the original Diablo to its sequel, although predictable, is still fabulous. I am one of those types who is really into plot, which is why I can really appreciate the cinematics included in this game. There are all new creatures to fight and spells and skills to learn, and I really like the way they dealt with the skills in this one... instead of buying books, you choose your skills as you level. The graphics are very good, and the range and variety of weapons, armor, and other items you can obtain is excellent.

What I think is the coolest part of this game, is how once you beat Diablo, you are given the option of continuing on, with your developed character, to 2 more levels of difficulty... nightmare, and hell. The plot is still the same, the places and creatures you fight are still the same, but the layouts are randomly regenerated all over again, and the creatures are a LOT harder now. To reciprocate for that however, the items you can get are even more interesting and powerful.

Of course, every great game has its fallbacks. To begin with, the game starting out is FAR easier than the original Diablo. It gets much harder, and it becomes definitely worth it after a while, but you will find yourself wondering what the point is for a little while. One big problem I have found on my computer as well is that the game tends not to run very smoothly, with a number of little freezes and such, which can sometimes lead to your death if they happen at the wrong time. Now, granted, my computer leaves much to be desired in speed, but it works well enough, and it is something to at least be wary of.

My biggest problem with this game, is the end of it. Right after you kill Diablo, you get this countdown across the bottom of your screen, that tells you the game is going to end in 60 seconds. It is certainly not enough time to get back and identify the stuff you got from killing Diablo, much less enjoy your recent victory thoroughly. It does go back into the game once the cinematic finishes playing, and you have time to finish up whatever you were hoping to do, but we didn't know that when it happened to us, and I think it just caused a great deal of unnecessary anguish for us.

So anyway, I think this is a really great game, especially if you are a fan of the Diablo game, and is definitely worth looking past the minor negative details.
