The Bottom Line:
If, at this point, you are unsure whether you will like this game, then I guarantee that you won't.
This is not the same as every epinion out there. This is going to go into every detail, so if you want a quick run through you are on the WRONG PAGE!
Beginning Story ~ When you first start the game, an epic movie gives you the beginning story.
~ An old, unshaven, quivering man lies on the floor, while a unidentified man walks in, as the rats scury across the puddles of sweat, drool, and water. This so-called man sits down. As he does this, the old man looks up. They begin to talk, and the old man realizes that this man in the brown cloak is really Tyrael, the archangel from heaven. They speak, and a flash back begins of the old man in a bar. It is as peaceful as a bar would be(an old bar, maybe 1400's). Then, enters an old man dressed just as Tyrael was, barely able to hold the sword he was dragging. He is provoked by his fellow barmates, and a green spirit erupts and the man starts to scream. The fire erupts, and tiny flaming skeletons emerge, and begin to attack. Vicous bats flock in through the windows, and many other vicious monsters come in. All the while, the man is on the floor, seemingly in a seisure, and seems to be battling with it. Finally, the man wins, the green spirit is sucked back in, and the monsters disappear. everyone in the bar is dead, except the old man, and this dark wanderer. The wanderer leaves, and the old man follows. As the wanderer is walking into the wall of fire, the part he goes into disappates. The old man follows, shivering, into the cold windy night. ~
Then the game begins.
Controls ~ The controls are simple.
To chat - Hit enter, type and hit enter again.
To move - Left click on where you want to go, hold to go towards the icon until the button is released.
To attack - choose attack from the mini menu, the click the corresponding mouse button.
To open doors - left click the door
Characters ~ There are five (Soon to be) heros or heroines
1. Barbarian - Quick, relys on brute strength and braun over brains. Has many different physical attacks and techniques for attacking, and each one is personalized by the man behind the mouse. Best suited for the trigger happy folks, like the people who are unbeatable in 007 Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. These people can click fast and furious.
2. Necromancer - Not very strong, although not weak. Nevertheless, a very formidable foe. He uses the dead as minions. He has many spiritual attacks, and the skeletons and golems he can raise are very powerful. I think this is best suited for people who like to have little cronies do all their work. One problem, the summoned creatures have little health, and constant raising drains mana quickly. Don't rely too heavily on the skeletons.
3. Paladin - A noble warrior with many auras. these are passive spells that take no mana, and are gratefully apreciated. These include my favorite two abilities, prayer, which raises health at a steady rate, not to fast though, and thorns, which reflects enemy damage. You receive it, but the enemy that hit you will get 200%-1000% back. This is for people that have many portals and many potions. The paladin is good for all, and highly recommended by myself.
4. Sorceress - Valiant fighter, very weak, but has many strong spells. These are three basic types, fire, ice and lightning. I would advise getting all one element, as then you can put more points into the same spells and therefore they are stronger.
5. Amazon - As implied by the name, it is a warrior woman. Pretty good health, and pretty strong, good for all players. Her skills aid her in melee fighting. They are Javelin/Spear Skills, Bow Skills, or Passive/Magic skills. The Javelin skills add bonuses, like lightning or poison, to the weapon. Same with the bow, only there are also some others, like guided arrow, which seeks out the nearest target. The passive/magic include summoning a duplicate that is a statue, so the monsters attack it, or aid in evasion, and a few others.
Gameplay ~
Meuns ~ The game uses an intricate menu to go into many different screens, like one for your character's stats, skills, inverntory, party (NA offline) and a menu for options and to quit. There are also hotkeys that are customizable for these menus. When you open one of these, it will open over one half of the screen, left or right, allowing you to still play/be attacked.
Skills ~ Since the game relies on the mouse for all movement, left or right clicking is how you attack. You can set any skill to either left or right click, yet I advise to keep left click attack, and use another one of the games features to go through skills. If you set certain skills on f1-f8 you can hit this and it will put it onto whichever side you assigned it to. Also, if you have a scroll mouse, and you use the f keys on the right side, you can scroll through them, which is useful in most cases because at a higher level (40+) you have lots of useful skills and manually picking them is time consuming.
I am far from done, I still have most of Gameplay, Items, Health and Mana, inventory, quests, mercenairies, single player, and multi player to cover, but I am done for tonight.
