This kit includes a space to hold the ASA5505 and also includes a space for the power supply so it will no longer be flopping around loose in your rack. Cisco 1841 Rack Mount Kit (First Generation), CK-1841-RACK Rack Mount shelf kit for Cisco 1841 routers without rack mounting holes. When Cisco first produced the 1841 router it was not rack mountable by default. It was designed as a shelf or wall mount unit and therefore had no rack mounting holes or mounting kit available. After several thousand units were manufactured Cisco added mounting holes to new productions of the 1841 and produced a rack mounting kit for it as well. If your 1841 does NOT have holes on the sides near the rear of the unit (where mounting brackets would attach) then your unit is what we refer to as a "First Generation" unit and you need our custom rack mounting solution. ( CK-1841-RACK ) If your 1841 DOES have holes in the rear of the unit you have what we refer to as the "Second Generation" unit and can use the "L Bracket" type kit designed by Cisco. ( ACS-1841-RM-19 ) Since the mounting holes on the 1841 are in the rear of the unit the rear will face forward in your rack when mounted.
